What Customers Say About Star Ocean: First Departure:

This may not appeal to somebody who loves the current wave of near-photo-real fast-reflex high-intensity FPS games, but if you like playing for hours and hours to get new players, new attacks/spells, new power-ups, new cut-scenes, and so forth, this is a pretty good game. I found it a very good game for the PSP. If it feels boring, hunt down some online FAQs to see what you may be missing. Not quite as easy to play as SO TTEOT on the PS2, but it has a lot of variety, some character building systems not present in SO Second Evolution, and (for a stat-building leveler like me) lots of replay value. The graphics are fine for the PSP screen resolution, and the gameplay is simple enough not to suffer from the not-so-precise L-Analog stick. I'd buy it again for PS3 if they bumped up the resolution. Gotta go, Pericci's meowing.

I believe this was the better game than the SNES one though. This is one of my favorite games of all time. Evem though I enjoyed Second Evolution, this is an awesome remake of the SNES game. I have already beaten it twice through but with different party members. If you want a good game to play to keep you entertained for hours, pick this game up.

This game sounded great on paper but the story is weak, the characters aren't very well developed and (though it should theoretically have a good replay value) I was more than happy to trade it in after the first play through.

This is inexcusable. Interesting game, character and skill development. Sure there are 3 or 4 save points in hard to find places that you won't visit enough in order to use them. SLOW Boilerplate story- HOWEVER the one thing that will destroy any lasting enjoyment is the complete inability to save the game. You die its 4-6 hours of redoing what you did. I literally wasted 6 hours of grinding and leveling up only to have my entire squad killed unexpectedly- come on folks- this is stupid, and not worth the time to redo. Sad thing I was enjoying it- i just refuse to adhere to their stupid game save rules- this is my last Square Enix title.

I though the third one was fantastic and was just a really great long RPG game. Namely the guards, all look like Ronyx. I was ready to see a short RPG. a few bosses. So I went to this game to check it out. I was completely ready to understand the fact that it was made in 1996 and this was a remake. Pros-Good starter for casual gamers-Cool character development-Beautiful backgrounds and citiesCons-Terribly long time to get from one city to the next via walking-Almost no side quests-Very short-Random battles-Always the same kind of monster, just different color-Terrible story, could be loads better, I could think of a thousandI bought this game, a few months after finishing off the third game on the PS2. But like I said before, it has really great looking cities, and.

This is one of my about 180 games, and theres only three games that I hated this much. Theres like one side quest, and it's pretty short, the game itself is pretty short, every single battle is basically the same one as the last area, accept now it's orange instead of green. Star Ocean: The first Departure, Enchanted Arms for PS3, and Final Fantasy Tactics: The war of Lions for PSP. I don't know how they ever took off. I wanted to see where the game gave birth from. There really wasn't that many bosses at all.

But this was a real doozie. The story is boring, everybody looks the same. It just wasn't the best of games. All horribly made games.
